I'm writing this blog on demand of a friend who asked me to update my blog to rid her off her boredom. haha.... It's the first time i write on demand. But nonetheless I'm glad to hear that. ^^ Langkawi. I had a sad incident with it before. Intitially this trip would have been my 2nd trip if i had gone with my from 6 classmates back in high school. But, i had the 'priviledge' of falling sick. Sigh.... I was down with a high fever, and was forced to drop it at the very last moment. I was so sad. Well, now i finally get to go there.^^
On 1st of September i grabbed a bus to Butterworth to meet with a Cat whose hometown is there. She came and picked me up as well as Ah Be, Joanna and Jason who came down from KL. That night, she took us to Gurney to eat.^^ It was something like a huge hawker centre. We stayed overnight at her place that night, watching funny videos provided by Jason. (he brought out his laptop) We watched until late at night and he showed me this cute little video of a birthday chorus. Just so happen that it was already 2nd September---my birthday^^. Thanx Jason.
The next day we woke up late, went for a morning market meal.(again it had a big hawker centre) Then we went off to the jetty. We enjoyed TWO ferry trips. Because, we were miss- informed about the time schedule of the boat for Langkawi from Penang. Thus, we stayed back in the ferry for it to go back. The rest of the day was used on the trip on just getting to Langkawi. We went to the bus station after that. Took a bus to Kedah, hopped on a local bus to the jetty, and finally got on a boat bound for langkawi. Once there, we rented a car and headed for the hotel that we booked for that night--Langkasuka Resort. It was near the sea, so besides swimming in thier pool, we could run over to the beach as well.^^ The room was OK, 2 queen sized bed, just good for five people to squeeze in.
By then our tummies were ravingly hungry. It was already 3pm! So we went inland for a bite and shopped for a while for duty-free goods--chocolates and alcohol. Poor jason, the rented Proton Aeroback was manual, so he had to use all his energy just to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was especially heavy after our shopping. ^^That night, me, Cat, Joanna and Ah Be went for a swim in the swimming pool. It was fun. Even though i couldn't swim all too well. It had been around 10 years since i went to the pool!>.<

We were brought to Helang Island as well to see the eagles hovering above our boat. The captain was kind enough to bring us to the shallow waters to see coral reefs. We even saw some fishes!^^As we were pressing for time, we returned to Pantai Cenang, had a quick shower and headed back to the pier. We bought nasi lemak to eat in the car while Jason rushed us off to catch the boat.
We got a shock when we were at the traffic lights near the pier. The driver next to our car signaled to us. It appears that we have a flat tyre! We had no choice but to carry on, hoping that it would be OK. Fortunately we arrived safely. A few of us still had the shopping craze while we were waiting for the boat at the shopping mall next to the pier.
Our mood were kind of spoiled when the officer at the check out point declared that Alcohol are only tax-less if we've stayed for 48 hours, meaning 2 nights stay. Sigh....so we had to pay an extra sum of money after bargaining with the officer.
After an hour and a half or so in the boat, we tried to catch the bus to the bus station at Kedah. We bought burgers while waiting. But after a while we decided to take the taxi instead. We really respect this uncle, man. He drives like F1 racer through the winding kampung roads. In fact, i think he's even better. there were no street lamps along the winding road!!
At the bus station, we tried looking for our desired bus. Cat returns to Butterworth, me to Ipoh and the rest of the gang to KL. there were still KL busses, but unfortunately none for ipoh. Poor me! So i went to Butterworth with Cat instead and went back Ipoh from there the next morning. I fell sick after the trip, as mentioned in ~siCk~ earlier on. But all in all, it was a memorable trip, and a great way to pass a birthday! nyahaha....
I remembered in the taxi along the way to the Kedah bus station, jason chit-chatted with the driver uncle. He even asked about his family. It turns out that this poor fella lost one of his children to a car accident just last week. Everyone was surprised in the way he told us about the news. It seemed as if he said it in a matter-of-fact kind of tone with no hint of pain. Well, i guess its because of the Islam religion. They regard death as a kind of enlightenment from human suffering, that they'll return to the embrace of Allah. What else can be better than that?
