Bible stories

Hi, guys. I’m still compiling my Chinese New Year photos, so I thought maybe I’ll scribble mumble something here instead. Recently I’ve been going for movies for 2 consecutive Sundays after I finish work. If it’s not, then its dinner with Shuang and Hong Huei on Saturdays. I noticed I’ve been hanging around with them a lot lately. =P

Two weeks ago, I went for a movie with Hong Huei. Before the show, As we were we chewed away on our Burger King meal while watching some old trailers. The trailer of The Golden Compass reminded me, that I haven’t finished reading book 3 of the trilogy. Book 1 was similar with the movie. I still prefer the book though. Book 2 onwards started to become Bible-like. It has a very strong connection with the Bible story: Adam and Eve. Hong Huei, who never saw the film wondered what the story was about. “Maybe I’ll ask my Christian colleague.” he said.

Then the following Saturday, Hong Huei narrated the story to me and Shuang.

After God created the world; he created Adam, the first human man to govern over HIS creation, mainly the Garden of Eden. Later, God created a companion for Adam. She was Eve, the first woman, crafted from one of Adam’s rib. Ouch.

In this Garden, there was a tree. God forbade Adam and Eve to touch its fruits. Then one day, Satan, disguised as a serpent, lured Eve to try its fruits. He told her that she would turn as wise as God after eating its fruits. So Eve ate the fruit, and gave another to Adam. This part of the story is believed that that’s how sin came into our world. When God found out, he banished Adam and Eve away from the Garden of Eden. And they subsequently became the first humans to populate the earth.

Then Hong Huei was wondering, why would God create something and put it there in the Garden, if it’s forbidden? But then, there is no answer to these questions.^^

Now I’m looking forward to his next story telling—how did Satan came about? =P
