HDB appointment

Today is appointment with HDB (Housing & Development Board) and lawyer parties. Me and my sis My sister and I got up early and took a bus to Toa Payoh HUB area. It’s my first time there. My sister used to live there when she was studying, so she introduced me around. The red cobbled pavement seemed rather old, but I think it’s rather nice because there’s plenty of shops and hawker food centers. She points to this lonely tall building in the distance and told me people used to love commit suicide by jumping off that building. Then I asked, “How come?” She replied, “It was the only tallest building then.

We had a brief breakfast of mushroom and minced meat noodle and headed for the HDB office. Joanna, our housing agent was already there and we waited for our queue number. There were quite a number of people there at the waiting hall. After the officer verified our important documents, we waited for our next procedure. We noticed that it took much longer than usual this time until the buyer’s agent asked about it. Then Joanna was called in via her handphone. (Our number did not show up on the screen)

Inside the small cubicle office, another officer briefed both parties, the buyer and seller on the rules and regulations of the flat. Another date is set for both parties to pass the keys to the buyer in May. It went past smoothly after all documents were signed. We then moved up to the law firm PKWD. I had an eye opener while I was waiting out there. There was this couple from China with a baby and a little boy. While the husband was reading on the newspaper, the wife was breastfeeding in plain sight. Couldn’t she get a room or go to the toilet instead?

Later, we were asked to wait in this room for the lawyer’s secretary. I really salute this Indian girl. She speaks English, Mandarin and Hokkien! I wonder if she knows Malay as well. Halfway through our appointment, we heard a commotion from outside. Someone was already impatient from waiting. She(Some Lady) ignored the administrative staff and rushes into the office without consent. Then she raises her voice demanding the firm to speed things up. Jeez, maybe she should try the queue in Malaysia.

After signing all the relevant documents, my sister left for her lunch as she had to rush back to her office for a meeting. Me and Joanna went to the Architectural department to request for the floor plan of the new flat. Then after lunch, we parted. I almost wanted to take the cab home since I couldn’t find my bus. All the buses at the interchange do not go to my area. So I retraced my steps. When I went past this clump of trees I walked up to it and took a peep. There were a few people praying there to a dark statue of Kuan Yin Goddess. A large golden incense pot was placed in front her. I continued further on, trying to recall where I dropped off this morning. I almost wanted to give up and take the cab home. Then I spotted the bus-stop. Finally!

I was already raining when I reached home. But I think it’s still better than yesterday’s. I had to wad through a huge puddle of water before I could even reach the first floor of my flat. My feet were all drenched.

I decided to make some herbal chicken soup for dinner. But strangely enough, I think there was were was too much herbs. It covered all the chicken taste. Damn, spoiled the soup. So I dropped in a one cube of chicken stock to save it. It looked VERY BLACK in the end, like Chinese medicine. But it was still acceptable la.
